Off-site Data Storage

Closed Container Program:

Southwest Data Protection (SWDP) rotates locked containers on a pre-determined schedule. Containers are picked up from the customer and stored unopened at the off-site facility. SWDP does not interact with the media inside the closed container. The container has a single retention date, therefore, the entire contents have the same retention date.

SWDP can provide information on which containers the customer has stored at their facility via the Internet. Detail of the container’s contents is the customer’s responsibility. For added security, a security seals can be added to each container.

Open Container Program:

Southwest Data Protection (SWDP) rotates individual tapes by their retention date. SWDP picks up the locked containers from the customer, unlocks the container at its facility, and scans and slots the media into the customer’s designated area in the vault. This interaction with the media is called “Open Slotting”. Each tape within the container can have its own retention date. SWDP can provide exact information on the media the customer has stored at the facility via the Internet.
